Wadena Residents:

The area's electric transmission system is currently running at peak demand this afternoon, we would appreciate your help in easing the load by conserving power where you can until about 8pm tonight.

If you are able, please consider
- Turning off lights in rooms that aren't in use
- Waiting to run laundry/dishwashing until after 8pm
- Turn off electronic devices when not in use
- Delay charging large batteries until after 8pm

Small choices do make a difference and your help supports a more reliable system for everyone. Thank You!

☀️ Summer is here, and the grass is growing! 🌱

Help us keep Wadena looking clean and inviting for residents and visitors alike. A friendly reminder: city code requires grass to be kept under 8 inches tall. A little mowing goes a long way toward keeping our neighborhoods looking good! Thanks for doing your part!

Revisiting a little slice of history at Blacks Grove Park!

We viewed the memorials to Captain John Black and his family who purchased and cared for the grove until they conveyed it to the Village of Wadena in 1947. As well as Bob Zosel and Larry Foley, whose vision and dedication helped preserve and plant the grove for future generations!

From the bridge over Oak Creek to the quiet picnic spots under the big old trees, to the many trails to choose from, this park is a great place to enjoy Wadena’s natural beauty!

Wadena is OPEN during construction. Hwy 29 and 71 will be open one lane in each direction - businesses, schools, and neighborhoods are accessible through the work zone. Keep an eye out for flaggers, narrow lanes, and lane shifts.

We encourage you to shop local during these times! Every purchase made during construction helps support local families, local jobs, and the businesses that make Wadena special. When shopping or eating in Wadena, try using side streets and alleys to more easily reach your destination. Look for back entrances to main street businesses, and take advantage of municipal parking lots! (A municipal parking lot map is attached for those curious)

Thank you for weathering through the construction while they make these improvements for our community!

🚧 Truck Detour🚧

Beginning Monday, June 22, a truck detour will be in effect for the Hwy 29 and Hwy 71 work zone.

The work zone has limited space for large vehicles to make turning movements, so truckers should plan to use Highway 10 and County Road 75 instead. This detour will remain in place through early September while construction continues.

If you're a trucker passing through or hauling locally, please plan your route accordingly to avoid the tight turns in the work zone. Thanks for your patience as we keep traffic moving safely through the construction season! 🚛
