After an extensive search of Black’s Grove, we have some unexpected news ...

The zombies have vanished.

Apparently, word got out that Wadena’s zombie hunters were coming ... and the undead decided to find someplace a little less terrifying.

Unfortunately, without enough zombies willing to come out of hiding or enough registered runners to pursue them, we have made the difficult decision to cancel this year’s Zombie “Almost 5K” Fun Run.

Creating the full Zombie Run experience requires a dedicated crew of volunteers, a full day of setup, course preparation, equipment, grills, supplies and another day to make the outbreak happen safely. Sometimes uncomfortable decisions need to be made, so with this year’s extremely low participation, we simply cannot ask our volunteers to take on that commitment.

All registered participants will be contacted directly, and prepaid registration fees will be fully refunded.

We are incredibly grateful to everyone who registered, volunteered, sponsored or helped bring the Zombie Run to life over the years. You gave us ten years of zombies, survivors, scares, laughter and muddy memories at Black’s Grove.

For now, the outbreak has been contained ...
