Each year WDC Schools take part in a Day of Caring! The students organize to help spruce/clean up yards around the community for the spring!

The Public Works crew at the city assisted with hauling away the yard waste! 1st photo: Doug Lowers and David Waln. 2nd photo: Dusty Denny and Andy Worden.

It is a fantastic program that the city is happy to take part in each year! Thank you to the students and organizers for helping keep our city looking sharp!

We're getting ready to line BN Park with senior banners again, and we would love your help sponsoring it! For $36, you can sponsor a banner for a Wadena-Deer Creek senior and see their face proudly on display as they finish out their last year of high school! It makes for a great grad party sign and keepsake!

We are seeking 26 more sponsorships - less than half way to go! Sponsor forms can be found on the Senior Banner page on the city website: https://www.wadena.org/page/senior-banners-2026

We are blessed as a city to have Whitetail Run Golf Course just a few minutes from town! A beautifully maintained 18 hole championship course, it gives our community a place to gather, play and showcase Wadena to others!

Take a look down Hole 1 for an example of the beauty the course has to offer! Make a tee time this weekend and check it out for yourself!

🚧Heads up, Wadena drivers – highway construction is about to ramp up in early May.🚧

Starting on or around May 4th, Highway 10 will be closed between Wadena County Road 4 and Harry Rich Drive for about five weeks while crews excavate and replace poor soils and install the Union Creek culvert. During this time, traffic will need to use the signed detour route on County Road 4 and Harry Rich Drive. Please plan ahead, allow a little extra travel time, and follow posted signs and flaggers as you move through the work zone. Business access maps will be available in the coming week.

April showers may bring May flowers, but spring weather can also be unpredictable! Blizzards, thunderstorms and flooding can occur unexpectedly. Be #StormReady and stay prepared by having storm kits ready, prepping your home, having a plan in place, and staying informed. If you experience an outage, report it right away.

🚧Hwy 10 Construction - What to Expect🚧

On or around May 4th through June (about 5 weeks), Highway 10 will be closed between Wadena County Road 4 and Harry Rich Drive so crews can remove poor soils and install the Union Creek culvert. During this time, drivers will need to use the signed detour via County Road 4 and Harry Rich Drive.

In June and July (about 6 weeks), the detour will extend toward Verndale while crews work between County Road 4 in Wadena and Oink Joint Road to replace the Whiskey Creek culvert and complete additional underground work. Watch for detour signs directing you to County Road 4 and County Road 23.

Later in July (about 3 weeks), access from Otter Tail County Road 75 south of Highway 10 will be closed to reconstruct that connection and build a J-turn. Drivers will use Highways 29, 71, and 10 through Wadena to get around this closure.

Business access maps will be made available in the coming week. For more information on the project, visit the project webpage on the MnDOT site: https://www.dot.state.mn.us/d3/projects/wadena/index.html
