We are excited to announce that Missouri River Energy Services (MRES) has opened applications for its 2026 scholarship programs. Whether you are pursuing a degree in a field related to the electric industry or training to become a lineworker, there are significant funding opportunities available to help jumpstart your future.
This year, MRES is offering two distinct scholarship tracks:
1. MRES College Scholarship Program
Award: Up to five (5) scholarships of $1,000 each.
Renewable: These awards are renewable for up to three years.
Eligibility: Open to graduating high school seniors who reside in a home powered by an MRES member utility.
Field of Study: Applicants must enroll full-time in an undergraduate course at an accredited two- or four-year college or technical school. Studies must relate to the electric industry, including engineering, mathematics, science, accounting, energy management, communications, economics, and more.
2. MRES Lineworker Scholarship Program
Award: Up to seven (7) scholarships of $2,000 each.
Eligibility: Open to students enrolling in a full-time electrical lineworker or powerline program for next fall. Unlike the general college scholarship, applicants do not need to be customers of an MRES member utility to apply.
Eligible Schools: Students must attend one of seven approved technical colleges in the Upper Midwest, including M State Wadena, Dakota County Technical College, and Bismarck State College.
