🚨New Emergency Sirens Installed in Wadena! 🚨
We’re happy to announce the installation of three new emergency sirens across the City of Wadena!
Why New Sirens?
We wanted to increase the coverage of our emergency sirens so the entire city is alerted at a loud enough decibel. Now, thanks to a generous grant from Sourcewell, and local fundraising efforts (with a special thanks to Magnifi Financial for their $5,000 contribution!), we’ve installed two relocated sirens and three brand new ones. New locations as well as before and after coverage maps can be seen in photos below. This will ensure that if there is emergency weather, everyone will be alerted correctly.
A huge thank you to the Wadena Utilities Department for their assistance throughout the project, making sure everything from removal to installation and resource coordination ran smoothly. Fun Fact: Each siren weighs around 300-400lbs!
Remember: These are emergency sirens, if you hear them, take shelter ASAP. They will be TESTED on the first Wednesday of each month at 1pm. Let’s keep Wadena safe together!
