Licenses & Permits

The Planning & Zoning Department’s primary responsibility is the issuance of Land Use and Zoning Permits, and the processing of Conditional Use Permits and Variances. Along with enforcement of the City Code, the Planning & Zoning Director also maintains maps of all City services, including streets, water, sewer and electrical.

The City Code is available on this site for your reference. Please note that Chapters 150, 151 & 152 relate to Land Use, Zoning & Building issues. You can also download a Residential Building Permit Application or a Commercial Building Permit Application. These documents are found on the left hand-side menu, under Forms & Permits.

The City of Wadena has not adopted the State Building Codes, however, the code is a good reference tool. Follow this link to view the 2015 MN State Building Code. The City does follow the MN State Fire Code for all buildings and this link will also allow you to view that document.
